| First of all let me say, you are not alone. You have already taken the initial steps towards getting what you want. This most likely includes peace of mind for yourself, no longer worrying where your child is or has been. Wondering what they are doing or will do? Where did they get the money for the choices you see them making and strongly disapprove of? This opportunity is about allowing them to learn another way. Again I say you are not alone. My wife and I were in this very place. Our child was out of control, no longer in school and struggling to stay clean and sober. The comfort of knowing that he was not using or stealing or running with the same old crowd during his stay at the school was the first relief in years. The chance to get to meet other parents and families in the supportive environment that is available was the bonus! I know what your thinking! How much is this guy getting paid for this? I assure you not one nickel, in fact I feel so strongly about the changes that are possible with this program that I have donated many hours of my own time. I am also very willing to give to you what you might right now be looking for, some one to talk to. I am making myself available to you. I can tell you my own experiences of the schools and myself. The next step is totally your choice. Garry Harshbarger 260-760-3244 |

My name is Kris Novetzke. My son Ryan is 22 years old. He began his abuse of drugs in 2001, at the age of 16. His father and I reacted quickly, with dependency evaluations, random drug tests, out patient drug treatment…to no avail. He just went underground with his use, and eventually overdosed and nearly died. He was in a 30 day treatment program three times and overdosed another two times before we found a program called Spring Creek in 2004. It is one of several behavioral modification programs that offer long term help in truly changing the behaviors behind the drug abuse solution that so many of our young people turn to.
While Ryan was at Spring Creek, my husband & I attended the voluntary seminars that are offered to make the changes our family so desperately needed. Ryan was not raised in a vacuum. His turn to drugs was a symptom of the dysfunction our family lived daily. We were not bad parents. Just uneducated in addiction and too trusting of a manipulative son. I met Dar Kulisek at one of these seminars and realized quickly that she was committed to helping families like mine. I saw the value in her mission of paying it forward to new families, and when I was eligible, I began staffing seminars. Dar was and is a role model for me. Ryan graduated the program in 2006, and is living his life on his terms. He is accountable for his choices. He is an adult, and we have a wonderful relationship based on mutual love and respect. He recently applied and was accepted for a job at the school he attended. He is a counselor for some young boys that face the same challenges he did. This helps Ryan as much as it helps the boys. It keeps him accountable and on solid ground. While Ryan was at Spring Creek, I posted the following on the online sharing board offered to all parents. I realized that this program helped me as much or more than it did my son… "I make no assumptions that my son will graduate this program, have a drug-free life, or even live for that matter. I can only hope that the tools he has learned will follow him throughout his life, whatever the path, whatever the length. His choices, his journey, his life. I will love him no matter what. I know I have done my best to save my son and that gives me peace." Today I am indeed at peace with my choice. |
| My name is Steve and my experience with the program began on January 3rd 2004 when I spoke with a representative of
the WASPS. World wide association of specialty programs and schools about my 14 year old daughter who was struggling
with life. She had begun to experiment with drugs and alcohol and had run away from home on two separate occasions.
She was so down she had started cutting herself and had seriously contemplated suicide, though none of this was
expressed to my wife and me due to the fact all communication had vanished. She had gone from an A-B student to
failing in a matter of three months with no regard for herself or others that loved her very much. The representative
was very helpful in every way which made a difficult and confusing decision much easier. My growth emotionally and
spiritually since starting this journey are immeasurable. I have met people with whom I hav e shared the most
desperate of times and learned that I am not alone, and in the process created friendships and bonds that still
continue till this day though we have all completed our programs and moved on. I have had the opportunity to
experience and am a part of many things that are so much greater than my self; this program has been the spring board
to what is my life today. A Blessing. My daughter graduated the program July 1st 2008. I feel greatly blessed to have
been given this opportunity to tell my experience to you and Thank my dear friend Dar Kulisek whom was there for me
and who has given So Much to so many. Thank You Dar. Steve Schuetz. |

A few years ago, I sent my daughter to a school I had never seen. Her behaviors had spun so far out of
control that I reached out for help from people I had never met. Those people took her in and kept her safe while we
all worked on becoming a family again. I felt that if I was going to send my daughter away to work on herself, I was
going to at least participate as much as I could. And what a journey our family has taken! I know that I would not
be where I am today without help / support / caring / and love from the many, many people we have had the privilege of
meeting along the way. I have actually thanked my daughter for bringing our family to the place we are all in today.

| My journey started approximately 3 years ago when, my brother's choices brought him to this program. I too chose in to the program, out of compliance at first. After attending the first seminar, Discovery I was sold, the program was something that was missing in my life.
It took about 9 months to pass before I started working my program, but as soon as I chose to work my program my brother started working his. I will forever be grateful to the staff at Tranquility Bay "TB". They are a beacon of light in the middle of the night.
They're staff is always on task, and truly manifest what I think it means to be accountable. I strongly believe that the infrastructure and support that my brother had at TB was a major contributing factor to his success.
My brother graduated the program in December 2007. Since then he has had his ups and downs, but overall he is alright. He is currently working 35 hours a week at a dentist office and will be attending college in the fall. Thank you to Mrs. Carmen Ebank and the whole staff at TB!
